Madekwe, a British-Nigerian mixed race child, was born to an ethnically diverse family from South London. The mother of her child is English and her father Nigerian. She was a student at The Brit School when she was 14 years old. She received her Bachelor of Arts in acting from The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. While attending the school, she appeared in numerous stage plays, including the King Henry V as Princess Katherine and Wuthering Heights as Catherine Earnshaw.
Madekwe started her acting career by starring in a movie titled Storm Damage. In the years since Madekwe's appearance in Teachers and Doctors. Madekwe's first film appearance was Woody Allen's Cassandra's Dream (2007), opposite Colin Farrell. Her popularity led her to play Elisha in a one-off BBC Three drama West 10 LDN pilot. Madekwe officially made her US debut in the series The Beautiful Life in 2009. The show aired just two episodes on The CW, and was later cancelled. Ashley Davenport was her role in the ABC drama Revenge. The show premiered in May 2013 and it was announced that Madekwe who had played a regular role in the two previous seasons, had decided to quit the show with a guest appearance on the premier episode of the season's new episode. From 2014 until the year 2016, she appeared on Salem in the role of Tituba. Madekwe, her longtime partner, Iddo, married Madekwe in June of 2012. Alongside Secret Diary of a Call Girl They have also collaborated with each other on Salem and also he played a part alongside her in the show on TV.

Ashley Leggat, an actress that was nominated two times for the Gemini Award, comes from an extensive Hamilton family. She was raised by her parents Roy and Patty along with four brothers who were older than them: Brett, Todd and Bram twins, Rob, and Brett. Ashley's brothers were athletic and played baseball during summers and hockey in the winter. Ashley had never been able to walk. She danced. At two and a half when she was a little older, she was a part of Baby Ballet. Ashley developed a passion for dancing shortly after she joined the Baby Ballet. Ashley was a professional dancer throughout the various divisions until she finished high school. The competitions she participated in included ballet, tap, jazz as well as pointe and the acrobatics. All of the big dance events, such as International Dance Challenge, Showstoppers, 56-7-8 Showtime, Flash Dance, Dance, Dance, Dance which have awarded her the title "top individualist".
